Ulrich Lang worked in marketing at L’Oreal and in New York’s art publishing arena before he launched his eponymous fragrance company in New York’s Greenwich Village in 2003 with long-time friend and business partner Britt Biegelsen. Lang’s fragrance line is a fusion of his passions for perfume and contemporary photography, which he uses as inspiration and as a design element in the label’s packaging.
Lang had developed a good nose early on — his grandmother owned a small perfumery in the South of Germany — and his discerning eye was trained between 1998 and 2000, when Lang built the contemporary business for online art portal artnet.com. During those years Lang began to collect contemporary photography — a passion that he still carries today.
